HO CHI MINH CITY (hcmc):

It’s the biggest city in Vietnam, it’s also the most crucial center of culture, education, economy in South Vietnam.

Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after revolutionary leader Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still unofficially widely used).[4]
